Best Bets Ahead of Super Bowl LV

The Super Bowl is the ‘Greatest Show on Turf’ and not only do American football enthusiasts look forward to it each year, but casual sports fans too.

Before the annual championship game takes place in February at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, there is a lot of football still to be played. Here are three bets which hopefully prove profitable for you in the playoffs in January.

Green Bay Packers to Win NFC Championship – 5/1

It’s been a fantastic start to the season for the Green Bay Packers who are in contention for the number one seed in a wide-open NFC Conference.

Green Bay have all the right weapons on offence. Aaron Rodgers is arguably the best quarterback in the NFL right now. He had already thrown 29 touchdowns with a completion rate of 68.2% heading into week 12. Those numbers put him in contention for the MVP conversation, an award he has won on two occasions before.

Rodgers has the benefit of wide receiver Davante Adams being at the top of his game right now. There is also a strong running game in Green Bay as, between them, Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams rushed for over 800 yards in the Packers’ opening 10 games. This dual-threat makes them a very difficult side to defend against.

As of 27th November, Green Bay are 9/2 in Betway’s NFC Championship betting. They look to be the standout team in the conference. If they are able to secure home advantage throughout the playoffs, they could be set for the Super Bowl in the NFL once again. They are also capable of getting big results on the road if need be.

New Orleans Saints currently top the outright market for the NFC Championship, however, Taysom Hill is having to step in for Drew Brees at QB as he is on the sidelines with an injury. Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are both also contenders in the conference but their offences have been hit and miss so far this season. Green Bay, therefore, offer the best value at 9/2 in the betting on this market.

Kansas City to Win AFC Championship – 6/4

Kansas City Chiefs are bidding to become the first back-to-back Super Bowl winners since New England managed that feat in 2005. Andy Reid’s side have shown they are going to take some beating once again.

All the headlines in the AFC right now are about the Pittsburgh Steelers who are leading the way. TThe impressive form from Pittsburgh might just help take some of the pressure off the Chiefs.

Patrick Mahomes is producing scintillating performances every week in the NFL. He had already accumulated over 3000 passing yards as of week 11. He had thrown 27 touchdowns in that period, and even more impressively, just the two interceptions.

At the time of writing, Kansas City are 11/8 to win the AFC Championship this season. Your staking plan for the playoffs should include the Chiefs as Mahomes and Reid look on course to be the NFL’s new dynasty.

Super Bowl Winner to Come from AFC Championship – 3/5

Betting is also available this year on which conference the Super Bowl winner will come from and the AFC Championship looks to be the obvious selection here.

You can probably make a case for nine teams in the AFC, with the Chiefs, Steelers and Baltimore Ravens the most likely to go all the way and lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy. The depth is not quite the same in the NFC.

Six of the last eight Super Bowls winners have come from the AFC conference and the betting on the 27th of November suggests the AFC are the favourites to prevail again. Take them at 3/5 to continue that excellent record. The odds conversion table for this market implies the AFC have a 62.5% chance of success this season. That percentage should probably be a little higher so, as long as you don’t mind backing an odds-on shot, it’s probably the best bet of the off-season.

Super Bowl LV is scheduled to take place on the 7th of February in what will conclude the 101st season in the NFL.
