Arsenal dropped more points in the title race, Liverpool left it late and Nottingham Forest secured another win in what is turning into a memorable season for Nuno Espirito Santo’s team. Week 22 had all the typical drama and stories, let’s look forward with another acca.
Bournemouth vs
Nottingham Forest
Details: Saturday, January 25th, 3.00 pm, Vitality Stadium
The two sides are lighting up the Premier League and this should be an intriguing contest. Bournemouth secured another outstanding result last week, heading up to Newcastle, who were on an 8 game winning streak, and dismantling them 4-1. Justin Kluivert scored a hattrick with Milos Kerkez adding a late fourth and in truth it could have been more. The Cherries just seem to keep getting better and better with their manager and some of their players already drawing admiring glances from elsewhere. Europe is on the cards if they continue this form.
If you had told any Forest fan in the summer they would be joint second in late January, they would have laughed. However, that is the case as Forest chalked up another win last week, beating struggling Southampton 3-2. After being 3-0 up it got nervy towards the end, but they held on for the three points. There was more good news in the week as Brazilian centre back Murillo signed a new contract until 2029. This is some season for Forest.
This is a tough one to call so I am going to sit on the fence and say draw.
Draw @ 5/2
Aston Villa vs
West Ham
Details: Sunday, January 26th, 4.30 pm, Villa Park
Unai Emery was absolutely furious following Villa’s Champions League defeat at Monaco on Tuesday. He thinks they could have blown their chances of qualification and lamented their performance on the night. It was a big blow, no doubt about that, but they need to put it right starting this week at home to West Ham. They did get a good point at Arsenal last week coming back from 2-0 down, with Ollie Watkins on the scoresheet again, and are still chasing the top four places to ensure they appear in the Champions League next season.
New West Ham manager Graham Potter would have learnt a lot about his side in their 2-0 defeat at home to Palace last week. He will now know exactly what he is dealing with, this is a side who have underperformed so far this season and are in dire need of a cutting edge up front. With no Antonio and Jarrod Bowen due to injury, the Hammers have been linked with several strikers this month. You feel it is vital they bring one in.
I think Villa will get back to winning ways at home to a West Ham side lacking potency.
Villa win @ 8/15
Fulham vs
Manchester Utd
It has gone under the radar how good of a season Fulham are having. Their 2-0 win at Leicester last week saw them climb to 10th, the sort of heights their opponents this weekend, Man Utd, can only dream of at the moment. Emile Smith Rowe is starting to get going in a Fulham shirt and he scored the opener last week, with Adama Traore sealing the win. Marco Silva has got this side playing some great football, and in Antonee Robinson they have one of the best full backs in the league. Like Bournemouth, they could be one of the sides who nobody fancied to get into Europe.
It has been another crazy, desperate and terrible week in the world of Man Utd. A home 3-1 defeat to Brighton saw Ruben Amorim declare after the game that this could be the worst Manchester United side in history. There have also been reports he damaged a TV in rage after the game. We all knew this was a huge job but maybe Amorim didn’t realise just how big it was until now. Utd find themselves 13th in the league in another lost season.
It might not even be much of a shock, but I fancy Fulham for the win here.

Calling a draw is always a bold shout, but Bournemouth and Forest are in such good form I think it could be an entertaining share of the spoils. I think until Potter settles in at West Ham and they can add a forward they will struggle while Fulham are simply better than Man Utd at this present moment.
