Man Utd continue to be awful, Chelsea have imploded while Man City showed some glimpses of old as they demolished Newcastle last weekend. It was a typically interesting week in the Premier League last week, let’s take a look at some week 26 action with our latest acca.
Everton vs
Man Utd
Details: Saturday, February 22nd, 12.30 pm, Goodison Park
A rejuvenated Everton welcome crisis club Man Utd to Goodison this weekend in the early Saturday kick off. It really has been some turnaround for the Toffees since David Moyes returned to the dugout. So much so that Everton now find themselves above Utd in the table. After the euphoria of that last minute equaliser in the last ever Merseyside derby at Goodison, Everton travelled to Palace and took all three points thanks to a winner from January signing Carlos Alcaraz. Everything Moyes touches is turning to Gold at the moment.
There has been no such good vibes for Ruben Amorim and Man Utd. They had an injury crisis last week before their trip to Spurs, meaning their bench consisted of academy players and Victor Lindelof. As for the actual game, Utd did create chances, with Alejandro Garnacho being particularly wasteful, but they couldn’t score in a 1-0 defeat. It has led to calls for Amorim to change his system but he seems steadfast in his ways. Most Utd fans just want the season to end.
Everton are the team in form, but Utd created a lot of chances last week. I am going for a draw.

Aston Villa vs
Chelsea
Details: Saturday, February 22nd, 5.30 pm, Villa Park
Unai Emery was frustrated with his players last week, failing to capitalise on Ipswich having 10 men and only managing a point at home to the strugglers. They did have an excellent January window, bringing in stars Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio to give them a boost for the second half of the season. If Emery can unlock the talent we have seen from Rashford in the past, they can still finish in the European places.
Chelsea are going backwards. After such a promising start under new manager Enzo Maresca their form has plummeted. Injuries haven’t helped, they have lost striker Nicolas Jackson until after the March international break and there is no real alternative to him at the club. They have struggled for goals, Cole Palmer doesn’t look himself lately and there is an air of rebellion amongst the fanbase. The Champions League had to be the aim for Chelsea this season but that doesn’t look likely.
I think Villa will have enough to beat a toothless Chelsea side.

Newcastle vs
Nottingham Forest
Details: Sunday, February 23rd, 2.00 pm, St James’ Park
It was very un-Newcastle last week in terms of the collapse at Man City. They were blown away inside 14 minutes, conceding three goals and losing all shape and discipline. Manager Eddie Howe has spoken since claiming they have a lot to learn from the loss, and they will need to learn fast as they welcome Forest to Tyneside this weekend. It has the potential to still be a fantastic season for Newcastle, with a cup final on the horizon, but they will need to regroup quickly from the setback last week.
Forest were edged out, 2-1, at Fulham last week but there is no need for panic. They are still in third place in the league and their destiny to finish in the European spots remains firmly in their hands. One of the biggest success stories of the season has been striker Chris Wood, and he got another goal last week, making it 18 for the season. Forest have shown they can bounce back from adversity this season, and will need to do so again on Sunday.
This one is a tough game to call, but I just think there will be a reaction from Newcastle.

Some exciting looking games on the treble this week. Man Utd need to find something desperately, but that will be a tough game at a raucous Goodison Park. Chelsea just look awful at the moment and I think Villa will have too much, while I think Newcastle will show they mean business after their hammering at City last week.
