The title looks all but wrapped up after the latest set of results. Arsenal’s lack of goals proved costly once again as they drew 0-0 at Forest, while Liverpool were comfortable 2-0 victors over Newcastle last time out.

The Gap is 13 points, and while Arsenal do have a game in hand, that looks insurmountable. Aside from that, the race for European places is heating up. Let’s take a look at some games ahead of week 28 with out latest acca.

Brighton and Hove Albion  Brighton vs Fulham Fulham

Details: Saturday, March 8th, 3.00 pm, American Express Stadium

Brighton secured their place in the FA Cup quarter finals thanks to an excellent 2-1 win over Newcastle after extra time last week. Attention now turns to the league, and this is a big game in the hunt for those European places. Brighton stand just a point above Fulham in 8th place, and are only three points off fifth. This could turn to be one of the most memorable seasons in the club’s history, and some first season in the dugout for boss Fabian Hürzeler.

Fulham will have something to say about that, though. They, too, secured an excellent win in the cup away from home last week, beating holders Man Utd on penalties at Old Trafford. It still feels like the job Marco Silva has done in West London has gone under the radar. To have the Cottagers challenging for Europe and into the quarter finals of the FA Cup is some feat. Now the challenge is can they finish strong.

This is a really tough game to call with both sides having great seasons. I am going to favour Brighton at home, just, to get the win.

Brentford Brentford vs Aston Villa

Details: Saturday, March 8th, 5.30 pm, Gtech Community Stadium

After a disappointing home defeat to Spurs, Brentford have picked up 7 points from their last 3 games, and will be annoyed it wasn’t 9 after conceding late at home to Everton last time out. The Bees are sitting comfortably in 10th place, facing no threat of relegation but also are likely too far off the pace to challenge for European spots. Still, mid table in the Premier League is an excellent season for Brentford, and Thomas Franks continues to show his worth as a top, top coach.

Of course, Aston Villa have loftier ambitions. Since the arrivals of Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio in January, the team has been refreshed and a spark has been added. Both have made big impacts in games already and Villa go into this after securing a 3-1 first leg win in Bruges in the Champions League in mid week. Unai Emery knows they need to put a run of wins together if they are to be back in the Champions League next season.

Villa aren’t always great in the game after playing in Europe and Brentford is a tough place to go. I am going for a draw here.

Tottenham Hotspur Spurs vs Bournemouth Bournemouth

Details: Sunday, March 9th, 2.00 pm, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

It was a week off last week for Spurs, the last time we saw them in league action was in a 1-0 defeat at home to Man City. Since then, things are starting to look up on the injury front, with Dominic Solanke, Christian Romero and Micky van de ven all close to returning to action. That will be welcome news for Ange Postecoglou, who’s side have been decimated by injury for large parts of this season.

Bournemouth equalled their best ever record in the FA Cup by reaching the quarter finals, overcoming Wolves on penalties last week. It was just another high point in what has been a fantastic campaign so far for the Cherries. Manager Andoni Iraola has been strongly linked with a move to the team he will be facing this week, and you would imagine Spurs wouldn’t be the only suitors if he were to leave.

I expect goals, both teams to score, and an entertaining draw.

I think all of three of these fixtures are appealing. Brighton and Fulham are both having superb seasons and Europe is within reach. Brentford and Villa has the makings of a tasty looking game while Spurs and Bournemouth are usually good for goals so that could be a really exciting Sunday clash.
