Sunday is Arne Slot’s chance to put the final nail in City’s coffin and put Liverpool into what should be an insurmountable lead. The Dutch manager has taken over from where Klopp left off but brought in an extra wow factor that has taken Liverpool to the next level.

For City, the game up ahead against Liverpool, in Anfield, comes poorly timed. They have not won in their last 6 games, and though Haaland scored 2 goals midweek, the City defensive woes are devastating to say the least. Funnily enough, the oddsmakers at all the best UK footie betting sites still have these two quite evenly matched, giving us a lot of options for our bet builder picks.

Liverpool vs Man City Game Details

December 1, Sunday 16:00 @ Anfield

This is the last game of Round 13 and it takes place on the first of December, what is usually a very hectic time in English football. By the end of December, we usually know who will go on to win the title, but this opportunity for Slot gives him an early window into all but closing the debate. Liverpool are in explosive form, scoring for fun in the Premier League and fending off the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal. Anfield is one of the toughest stadiums to play away, and Liverpool have only lost 1 game at home this season, in a shock early season 0-1 defeat against Forest.

City have been dismal both away and at home, but they are also a team that no one really wants to underestimate. Not even the bookies. Even when in dire straits, Guardiola has been able to silence the critics but the big question is can he turn the tables on Liverpool and burst Slot’s bubble?

Bet Builder Picks

Given both teams’ forms, you would think that Liverpool would be the overwhelming favourites to win here, but that is not the case. A Liverpool moneyline comes at slightly over even money at the time of writing, and a double chance on Liverpool or Draw is priced at 8/25. I could even go ahead and place a Liverpool Moneyline and an Over 2.5 Goals bet, and get odds of 31/20, but I want to analyse the betting markets more cautiously and look for areas where the prices are even better valued.

Who Will Win the Game

While I’m inclined to back Liverpool at home, something about the timing of this game and the league table suggests that it may end in a draw. The draw would undoubtedly suit Liverpool, as they would keep the 8 point distance over City, with Chelsea and Arsenal potentially coming within 6 points of Liverpool. It is still a very good place to be, and the draw would not hurt them much at all.

City will want to win here, it is adding further insult to injury if they lose, and Guardiola will definitely bring out his A team. The lack of Rodri and Ruben Dias is really hurting City right now, and while they do have a fair few defensive players to take their places, Pep has just not found the right formula yet. Realistically, it is either Liverpool or a draw, and between those two. Their last two head-to-head clashes ended 1-1, so it would not really be such a surprise if they cancelled out each other once again.

Goal Scorers

Neither team has any problems scoring goals, Liverpool has scored 24 while City have scored 22. But the difference is in their defence: Liverpool has conceded only 8, whereas City have had 17 goals go in. Granted 8 of those have come from the last three games, all of which City lost.

Haaland is a threat in attack and the top goalscorer, but my attention here goes towards Salah. Liverpool’s Egyptian winger always turns up for the big games, and is extremely versatile in his scoring, popping up at the right place at the right time to put Liverpool ahead. My worry about Haaland is that he is just too inconsistent. He will either score 2 or 3 goals in a game, or just plays out a frustrated figure who goes the whole match with barely any touches. The odds on Salah to score during this game are extremely generous, and worth adding to any good bet builder slip.

Props Bets

Liverpool are the more likely of the two teams to convert corners, but neither are especially noted for scoring loads from corners. I think the action will take place mostly in the midfield and both Liverpool and City will have a hard time of breaking through and forcing shots. The game between Arsenal and Liverpool yielded only 4 corners in total, and I don’t really see this one running up a big tally of corners, so I will pick a relatively low line of 9.5 and bet under.

Total Corners Under 10.5 @ 19/20

Now talking about goals, this game has the potential to rack up a mighty sum of goals, considering how much quality there is in attack. But, as I mentioned before, I get the feeling that the teams will be too busy being careful at the back and avoiding mistakes to really unleash their full potential on the other.

There may be a few mistakes, but both managers will want to play safe and avoid turning this game into a circus, especially City. Plus the oddsmakers are really trying to sell those Over 3.5 goals bets and BTTS wagers which could happen, but I think this game will take on another narrative. The odds on under markets are very generous, and considering their last two H2H games ended 1-1, we can’t really be surprised if this game fails to produce a mammoth goal tally.

BettingTools Liverpool vs City Bet Builder Picks

We have lots of picks, and the odds are long almost everywhere, so I will divide the picks into two separate bet builders. I will take a conservative stance on this game and predict a draw, with under 2.5 goals. Too many times have high profile games like this disappointed or run out to a stalemate. Arsenal and Liverpool played out a 2-2 game, I think the attention to defensive detail that both managers will give points towards a low-scoring affair that will probably run out to a draw. I know it goes against Liverpool’s high scoring form of late and City’s terrible defensive record, but I think both team’s will approach this one with due caution.

But then I will also run a bet that can win regardless of the result, and is only tied to Liverpool’s key scorer Mo Salah, and a good insightful wager on Under 10.5 corners. This one comes at good returns, and the perfect side bet to win a little extra money on the side. You can also try to combine the two or play around with different combinations of these selections. I would suggest having a handy odds calculator with you at all times so you can easily calculate the odds and probability for yourself.
