Wolves face the daunting prospect of taking on champions Man City this weekend. It has been a really tough start for Gary O’Neil’s men, they are desperate for points and will be looking to cause a shock this Sunday.
The pressure is really on Wolves manager Gary O’Neil. His team are rock bottom of the Premier League and although there have been some good performances, they haven’t translated to enough points. It is far from ideal, then, that Wolves welcome champions Manchester City to Molineux this weekend. City, of course, need the points for their own aims and will be fully expected to despatch of Wolves comfortably.
Wolves vs Man City Match Details
October 19, Sunday 14:00 BST @ Molineux
The game will be held at Molineux, where Wolves have yet to win a single point this season. City haven’t been at their storming best so far in this campaign but are still second in the table and will be disappointed if they don’t come away with all three points on Sunday.
Wolves vs Man City Preview
It has been a shocking start for Wolves. They are one of four remaining teams without a PL win to their name so far this season. With only a single point gained so far, which came at Nottingham Forest, they are already three points adrift of safety. To be fair, the fixture list has not been kind to the men from Molineux. They have already faced Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa. With that type of run, it becomes crucial that you pick up wins against the ‘lesser’ teams, but Wolves only picked up a point against Brentford and Forest.
The schedule is not easing up as the champions are now in town this weekend. The Cityzens have enjoyed their typical strong start to the season and are undefeated. They are only a point behind early pacesetters Liverpool despite dropped points over recent weeks. They responded to a couple of draws with a home win over Fulham last time out.
City are clearly big favorites for this game, but there is hope for Wolves as Pep Guardiola’s side have looked vulnerable at times, with the defence leaking more goals than usual. Scoring hasn’t been a problem for Wolves, they have scored in every game but one so far and they have the players to cause City some problems. City have conceded eight goals with five in their last three encounters, which is unlike them. With City only claiming one clean sheet so far, on the opening day at Chelsea, Wolves’ top scorer Matheus Cunha will be looking to carry on his good goal scoring form.
Of course, City have their own goal scorer in Erling Haaland, who has 10 goals already. But, he hasn’t found the net in his last two league games, which is a big drought by his usual standards. Rodri will be a massive miss for the rest of the season so City will be relying on Mateo Kovacic, who scored a brace against Fulham, to fill the void.
BettingTools Selections for Wolves vs Man City
There are plenty of good markets for this one. Coming off the back of an international break, you are never quite sure how the big teams will be as many of their star players often return late. Tiredness can play a big role meaning there are lots of good value offers around as the playing field might just be a bit more even.

Our Prediction
Man City continue to challenge right at the top end despite dropped points recently. I think they will comfortably see off Wolves away from home. With Haaland in top form, they have been absolutely ruthless in front of goal, scoring the most goals in the league. But with only one clean sheet, I can certainly see both teams scoring in this one.
I can see City coming away with a 3-1 win on Sunday.

I think there will be plenty of shots in this game. So in addition to City winning the game, I am going for both Phil Foden and Erling Haaland to have over 1.5 shots on target. Haaland always looks dangerous and despite a slow start to the season, Foden has played more recently and I expect him to start firing soon. With both of these players always looking for a goal and City being the dominant force they are, I think this has a great chance.
