PowerPlay brings a fresh and exciting sportsbook to the online betting scene, with a clean user interface that works well on both desktop and mobile devices. For any bettors on the hunt for a sportsbook with a broad betting menu and a generous welcome bonus, PowerPlay provides a very viable option.
One of the most noticeable aspects of this sportsbook is its market coverage. Bettors can access a range of bet types in over 25 sports markets, including American football, baseball, soccer, and esports.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Wide range of betting markets, including several niche options | No live streaming |
| Excellent in-play betting options | Reports of long withdrawal processing times |
| Many payment methods including popular eWallets | Lack of ongoing promotions |
| Multiple payment options, including crypto |
PowerPlay Betting Features
PowerPlay has numerous features that make for a solid online sportsbook. They do a really good job of covering all of the most popular sports, including several niche options, so there is plenty of variety. The betting odds are competitive to the biggest brands, and there is also scope to build your own parlays, which are typically boosted by 5%. There are, of course, some drawbacks, like with most online sports betting sites. Live streaming is a big omission, and the verification process is a bit convoluted in my opinion, but it does a lot of things well.
Live Betting

The live betting section on the PowerPlay sportsbook is excellent and really easy to use. Just click on the bet live button above the sports list, and you will be presented with all of the current in-play events across all of the sports offered. It will also state how many live events are currently taking place that you can bet on. Once you make a selection, your betslip will auto-populate, and if you add more than one selection, you can then turn it into a parlay bet.
You also have the option to accept all the odds changes or not by toggling the button on or off. In terms of ease of use, this is everything you could ask for from a live betting section of an online sportsbook. It is easy to find; the exact amount of live events is stated, and you can easily go through the sports menu to land on your chosen sport. The biggest negative here, in my view, is the lack of any live streaming service.
The better sportsbooks these days allow users to watch the action they are betting on remotely, adding to the excitement and anticipation of waiting to see if their bet comes in. A lot of competitors will have this as part of their betting service, so I would like to see PowerPlay consider adding this as an option in the future.
Website Experience
There is no native app available at the moment, so bettors must choose between the desktop and mobile site versions of the sportsbook. The desktop site is a pretty standard setup, the sports menu is on the left, the betslip on the right, and your choice betting markets is on the middle of the page. There are also featured, top live, and up next menu options for you to have a look at, in addition to the PowerPlay pick, which is a recommended bet from the sportsbook.
I really value the fact that the interface is easy to use and, personally, that is the most important thing for me when perusing through sports markets searching and looking at the different odds and bet types. However, some may feel that this interface is a bit dull, with too many rotating adverts taking up space.
Mobile Betting
I think things are certainly better on the mobile version of the site. The response times seem far quicker when switching from one menu to the next, and everything fits on to a mobile screen nicely. There are still too many game ads and mentions of previous winners for my liking, which takes up too much of the screen space which could be used for more relevant sportsbook content. There is also no dedicated mobile app for the Canadian market.
Sports Covered
The Canadian betting market is growing in strength and popularity, so PowerPlay has ensured they offer a diverse range of betting markets to attract new bettors. The biggest sports include the big North American sports leagues: NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL. NFL bettors will have plenty of opportunities to wager on their favorite teams. The most common pre-game bet types are available, including moneylines, totals, spreads, and quarter-by-half specific bets. There are also the in-game options.
Other popular sports include soccer, NCAA football, tennis, and golf. I was also impressed with the amount of nice sports available at PowerPlay, with odds for Aussie Rules football, badminton, and handball all there. Esports fans are also accounted for with PowerPlay offering odds for various game types, including Global Offensive and Dota 2.
PowerPlay Banking Methods
PowerPlay offers a strong list of deposit and withdrawal options that cover the major card options in addition to crypto options like Bitcoin. You should note that some of the crypto payment options, such as Interac, have maximum limits set by your bank, so you will need to contact them if you need to add more funds. You can also make a deposit by using Ecopayz and Paysafecard. The minimum deposit limit on the PowerPlay sportsbook is $10.
There are a handful of withdrawal options, including cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. The biggest negative to note here is that PowerPlay are one of the few Canadian sportsbooks that charge you to make a withdrawal; your first withdrawal is free. After that, you get free withdrawals if they are over $100 and are charged a 3% fee for withdrawals under $100.
Customer Service
We have seen reports of PowerPlay being slow to react to customer complaints in the past, but it is clear that they have taken all of this feedback on board and improved their customer support offering. The option we always look out for in our reviews, the 24/7 live chat feature, is available, and the PowerPlay team is quick to respond to inquiries with helpful information.
If you would rather email, you can send in your questions to support@powerplay.com, and while this isn’t as efficient as using the live chat option, you will still get an informative response; it will just take longer. There is also a phone contact number if you would prefer to speak to someone over the phone.
PowerPlay Verdict
PowerPlay is a solid and reliable Canadian sportsbook. While it may seem to put more emphasis on marketing its casino, if you are an active casino player who likes to dabble in sports betting, this could be a great option for you. There is a wide range of betting markets for you to choose from, including all of the most prominent leagues that users in Ontario enjoy. The live betting section is particularly strong, but I would like to see a live streaming service added to really turn it from good into very good.
The banking options are all efficient and reliable, and the minimum deposit limit of $10 is about par compared to the competition. Ultimately, I feel this is a solid if unspectacular sportsbook that does the basics well.
