When done right, sports betting offers just the right dose of excitement and fun. But no one bets ‘just for fun.’ There’s a strong satisfaction in the ability to predict things correctly and even get paid for it. But that satisfaction can quickly evaporate if you base your prediction on luck.

Probability is an integral part of betting, and an unforeseen set of factors and circumstances, which we often call ‘luck,’ will affect the final outcome. You can’t factor in all the variables that lead to a certain sports outcome. However, you can develop a viable betting system that offers the best possible predictions that will generate profit.

Betting Systems Analysed By Our Team

After a brief sit-down and discussion among our BettingTools experts, we came up with a few systems to consider applying.

  • Matched Betting – With matched betting, you place a back bet – back an outcome to occur – and a lay bet – bet against an outcome. To practise matched betting, you should create an account at an online bookmaker to back your bets and open an account at a betting exchange for lay bets. Preferably, you should look for bookies that offer bonus bets to place your back bet.
  • Accumulators – Considered a risky long-term betting system, accumulators allow you to get a higher payout by accumulating odds from multiple selections. However, if one selection loses, you lose your bet. There are several sub-types of accumulator bets that offer a solution to this: system bets, Round Robins, Goliath, Super Goliath, etc.
  • Each-way and Double Chance – Each-way (EW) and double-chance are types of bets that you can implement in your system to reduce risk. Both offer payouts in the event of two possible results. With EW, a racehorse or greyhound can win or place to win your bet. With double-chance, available only in sports where a draw is one of three likely outcomes, you bet on either team to win or to draw.
  • Finding Positive Expected Value (+EV) – Finding positive EV can be a highly effective betting system for long-term profit. Positive EV (+EV) is when the actual probability of a given outcome is higher than 50%. It is an intricate betting system with many variables for which we offer a detailed guide and analysis.
  • Over 0.5 Goals Betting System – This low-priced betting market can be quite valuable for beginners looking for easily predictable markets. Over 0.5 goals means a football game must have 1 or more goals for the bet to win.

Note: A betting system is an umbrella term referring to practising a certain betting strategy. On the other hand, a system bet is a specific type of multiple bet.

Betting System Example

Let’s say you want to learn the matched betting system. To start, you must open a betting exchange account and register an account with a UK online bookmaker offering bonus bets or bet credits. The idea is to bet on the opposite outcomes of the same event on two different platforms using promotional offers like bet credits.

By backing the two opposite outcomes, a win is guaranteed, albeit often a small one. And by using betting credits or bonus bets, you avoid staking out-of-pocket money. Still, to qualify for a bonus bet, you may need to place a small stake (usually £5-£10).

Do Betting Systems Work?

You can’t predict if a betting system will work except by putting it into practice and preparing to sustain some losses. Losing is not an indication the system doesn’t work. Rather, it indicates it doesn’t work at the moment. However, if you notice a pattern of losing after a while, it’s time to reevaluate your system or look for a new method.
