Are you an avid sports fan who enjoys placing prop bets online? Then you need to take advantage of what DraftKings has to offer. Unlike most online sportsbooks, DraftKings doesn’t limit you to betting against the house. You can also put your knowledge of your favorite teams and players to the test in exciting peer-to-peer contests like the DraftKings Pick6 Contest, where you compete directly against other bettors for monetary prizes.
Following the same principle as PrizePicks, DraftKings Pick6 users create lineups from a selection of available players and then choose which of those players has more or less than a set statistic. Sound intriguing? Read on to find out more about how it works, some strategies to use, and available prizes. FanDuel has become the latest operator to enter the market with their FanDuel Picks offering as well.
Is The DraftKings Pick6 Contest Free To Enter?
DraftKings Pick6 is not a free-to-play contest, but the entry fee is surprisingly low, so even if you are a small player, don’t worry. You can play to your heart’s content, and it won’t break the bank.
Keep reading to learn how the DraftKings Pick6 Contest works, how to participate, and the available prizes up for grabs.
How The Game Works
The object of the contest is to pick lineups or “pick sets” of 2-6 different players and compete against other participants with the same size lineup.
Start by choosing an eligible game and 2 to 6 probable players but not all from the same team. Then predict whether each athlete’s listed stat (i.e., batting average) will be more than (over) or less than (under) the projected number.

Lastly, decide how much you want to spend on entry fees. Each contest costs $1 to enter. However, to give you a shot at more prize money, you can purchase multiple entries. For example, $5 lets you use your selected pick-set in up to five separate contests and compete against different participants in each for a share of the prize pool. The maximum number of entries permitted (assuming there are that many eligible contests open) is 150.

DraftKings Pick6 Strategies
There are lots of different views out there in terms of how to approach the DraftKings Pick6 competition, but here are some general strategies we believe will be beneficial.
The first thing we think you should consider is the number of picks you have in your Pick Set. Typically, the shorter the slate you have, the shorter the Pick Set as there will be fewer props available. Ultimately it is far easier to git on 3 for than it is to 5 for 6 on a large Pick Set. Always choose your picks with confidence, don’t fall for the large payout temptation which is likely more of a stab in the dark.
It will usually take a pattern to correctly select several picks. For example, even if you were to have six different picks from six different games, there will be some sort of correlation to note with each individual pick. So, if we take a wide receiver to go under the reception yardage, is that down to the opposing team having good DBs and being strong against the pass? You need to try and project how you think the game will go beforehand, if a team is down so needs to throw more etc.
A lot of people follow trends, such as taking a player who is on a hot streak on props. You could go against the grain and some props and if they hit, then you will be one of the select few who rocks up a great score. So, being the odd one out isn’t a bad thing, here.
DraftKings Pick6 Prizes
Each contest has a separate prize pool and pay table. You need to get at least the specified number of picks correct to qualify for a share of the prize money. The fewer the total number of entries with the same number of correct picks as you, the more each entry will pay.
For example, if $6,000 of the total prize pool is allocated for entries with 4/4 correct picks and 300 entries with 4/4 correct picks have been submitted, the prize for each of these winning entries would be $20. If you had 3 qualifying entries rather than just one, you would be paid $60.
Why You Should Play DraftKings Pick6
There are numerous incentives for sports bettors to participate in this DraftKings competition. One of the most appealing things about Pick6 is the peer-to-peer format mitigates the edge the operator typically has over players. In the sports betting space, competing against other bettors will be easier that going up against the house. However, you must bear in mind that DraftKings keeps a percentage of the entry fees, like the big it keeps by pricing its markets accordingly.
Pick6 is also very straightforward in terms of the rules and regulations and maybe easier to understand than other DFS-type competitions. While you need to have a good grasp of data to select the players in your lineup, you don’t need to compare data and stats to other players. You also don’t need to project who will have the best stats across the league, you only need to worry about if they can beat the projected line.
One of the biggest benefits to smart bettors is the ability to avoid betting limits when playing Pick6. A lot of sportsbooks limit the amount of money players can lay down if they determine them to be ‘sharp’. However, there is no reason for a betting site to limit players in Pick6, as they will receive a fee regardless of the outcomes.
State availability is also a big reason why Pick6 is so popular. It is widely available across the USA, even in states where betting is banned. This means residents of those states can get involved without the need to travel elsewhere.
DraftKings vs FanDuel Contests
DraftKings’ chief competitor for similar DFS contests is FanDuel. An important difference is that the FanDuel contests are free to enter.
