Same game parlays (SGPs) have exploded in popularity in recent years on online sportsbooks. This type of bet wasn’t available for a long time, but then FanDuel introduced the same game parlay in 2019, and it has gone down extremely well in the wider betting world. It has been one of the biggest draws for bettors towards FanDuel, and since they launched the same game parlay many of their competitors have launched their own version.
Same game parlays have become that prominent that now we have seen extensions of the traditional SGP. At FanDuel’s great rivals, DraftKings, you have the same game parlay extra (SGPx) while the pioneers of the SGP, FanDuel, have introduced the SGP+.
The FanDuel SGP+ gives you the ability to combine a same game parlay bet with another single wager, or even another SGP. Essentially it is just one giant parlay, but it gives you more freedom and flexibility when you put the bet together. This guide explains in detail how to create an SGP+ and some tips for maximizing this type of bet.
What is a Same Game Parlay?
First, let’s start by explaining what makes a traditional same game parlay. The idea behind an SGP is that you combine several bets from one game. The odds jump as you add more legs, making it harder to win but also increasing the potential payout.
Sportsbooks worked out the math to price in correlation. For example, If you bet Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley to score touchdowns and the Eagles to win, you won’t get the 6-1 payout that would typically come with a three leg parlay. The profit will be less because if those two score it means the Eagles are more likely to win.
Every leg of your SGP must hit to earn the full payout. This is why parlays are so difficult to win, as if just one leg loses, the entire wager falls down.
Bet types such as moneyline, spread, and point total and player props are popular on an SGP. However, bear in mind that betting sites don’t allow you but every prop type available into an SGP. You can see what options are available to you by clicking the ‘SGP’ button for any game.
FanDuel Same Game Parlay+ Explained
FanDuel was the first online betting operator to introduce the same game parlay, and they now also have the SGP+. Other sportsbooks offer similar products with similar name but FanDuel were the brand that really kick started the SGP movement.
When you are logged into your FanDuel account, you can click on a sporting event you are interested in and scroll along to the ‘same game parlay’ tab. From there, you can view all of the options that can be combined to make your same game parlay.
This is where you can create numerous parlays to build your SGP+, and then FanDuel will include it in the bottom of your bet slip. Let’s take a look at an example of two SGP’s I could place on FanDuel to create my SGP+.

My first SGP, for the Cavaliers vs Heat game, is priced at +987. Then I make another on the game between the Timberwolves and the Suns which is priced at +347.
FanDuel will then parlay these two separate bets together in the betslip for an SGP+ with six legs that is priced at +4770. A $10 wager at those odds would win you $4770.07. It is naturally harder to win, but it also gives you the opportunity to build a bigger parlay and you can also have parlays from different sports to create your SGP+, as well.
Tips to Build FanDuel SGP+
Now that you know what an SGP+ entails, let’s take a look at some tips to try and help you win some money.
Bet on a player you think will have a big game
We all have our favorite players in sports and even some players we dislike but respect because we know their talent. Backing them to hit some big numbers in a game could be vital for you to hit your SGP.
There are some sports where this can work better than others. For example, in the NFL, NBA and MLB players can accumulate multiple stats. If you think Saquon Barkley will have a big game in the Super Bowl, take a look at the example below.

To make this an SGP+, I will need to add another SGP onto it. This is where you could bet on an NBA player to score over a certain amount of points, rebounds or assists etc. On the other hand, if you think the player will have a bad game, you can always bet on the under on his props.
Look for alternate lines
FanDuel offers alternate lines that you can use for player props, point totals and the spread. You can use these for an SGP+ in a couple of ways.
If you are a more conservative bettor, you could combine several props with -300 odds to create an SGP with +100 odds. If you prefer the more risky bet, you could choose an alternate line with +200 odds. Then you could combine the markets to create more value on your SGP+.
Search for market correlation
There is a lot of thought and strategy that goes into building an SGP. It is not just a case of looking at a team or an individual player who is in great form.
If you are looking at an NFL match where the point total is set above 50, that indicates it will be a high scoring game. That means it would be wise for you to take the over passing yards for the QB and the over receiving yards for the WR1. The same applies to other sports, where the points are projected to be high so bet on the player going over the projected total for three pointers or baseball hits or goals in soccer.
Kings of Same Game Parlay hit with SGP+
FanDuel has earned the reputation of being the best sportsbook when it comes to parlays, and this has been enhanced with the SGP+. Having the opportunity to create a customized parlay covering different sports is great, and there is also the added excitement of seeing how much money you could potentially win, as well.
