After a frantic midweek of Champions League action which saw all of our teams safely through, the Premier League is back this weekend. All eyes will be on the big one on Sunday, as Arsenal host a resurgent Manchester City.
Let’s put together our latest acca.
Bournemouth vs
Liverpool
Details: Saturday, February 1st, 3.00 pm, Vitality Stadium
This is one of the most attractive looking fixtures of the weekend. Bournemouth continued their amazing run of form last week, demolishing Forest 5-0. This was a Forest side that went into that game riding high and on a great run of form themselves, but were completely taken apart on the South Coast. In the 4-1 win against Newcastle two weeks ago Justin Kluivert got a hattrick, last week, Dango Ouattara repeated the feat for the free scoring Cherries.
Liverpool were expected to see off Ipswich comfortably last week and they did so, winning 4-1. It is quite something that we already expect this team to steamroll through everyone when you consider Arne Slot is in his first year in the Anfield dugout, the transition has been seamless. They just march on.
This has the makings of a very exciting game. I think both teams will score but I fancy Liverpool to nick it.
Liverpool to win @ 4/6
Wolves vs
Aston Villa
Details: Saturday, February 1st, 5.30 pm, Molineux
After an initial boost when Vitor Pereira took over at Wolves, they are now on a run of defeats. They would have felt like it was a big chance missed against Arsenal last week. The Gunners went down to 10 men just before half time, but Wolves were unable to capitalise. Much to the annoyance of Pereira, Joao Gomes was sent off for the home side on 70 minutes, and Arsenal scored the winner three minutes later. They can’t afford players being silly like that in their position.
It was a wonderful Wednesday night for Villa. A 4-2 win over Celtic with a Morgan Rogers hattrick means they are through to the next round of the Champions League, a wonderful achievement for Unai Emery and his men. Attention now turns to qualifying for next year’s Champions League, and they will need to be better than they were in the 1-1 draw to West Ham last week.
I can see a draw here, with Villa a bit fatigued after their midweek exploits.
Draw @ 5/2
Brentford vs
Tottenham
Details: Saturday, February 1st, 3.00 pm, Vitality Stadium
Brentford got back to winning ways at Palace last week, clinching a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Mbuemo and Schade. This past week has seen several players linked with big moves away, with Mbuemo, Schade and Wissa all in the news regarding potential exits. Manager Thomas Frank has dismissed any rumours and it will be a win for the Bees if they can get to the end of the window with no player exits.
Spurs desperately need reinforcements. They have been absolutely decimated with injuries and their season took a new low last week with a 2-1 defeat at home to Leicester. Much of the anger from the stands was not directed at Ange Postecoglou, but rather chairman Daniel Levy as what they see as a club going nowhere despite sky high ticket prices. They are closer to relegation than Europe and you sense they must make a statement in the window to at least calm the noise for now.
I am predicting more pain for Spurs with a home win here.

PL Acca
A nice treble this weekend, with Liverpool marching on. To increase the odds slightly, I have gone for a draw in the Midlands derby between Wolves and Aston Villa, while Tottenham just haven’t got enough fit players at the moment and Brentford tend to be good at home, hence the home win there.
