The playoff picture got a little bit clearer after week 15. The Vikings clinched their place in the postseason and also moved level with the Lions atop the NFC, while the Eagles also remain firmly in the hunt for the No1 seed in that conference.
In the AFC, Josh Allen and the Bills continue to dazzle while the Chiefs will hope the injury to Patrick Mahomes isn’t too bad. Let’s dive into some games and look ahead to week 16 with a parlay.
Sunday, December 22
Pittsburgh Steelers @
Baltimore Ravens
The Steelers, like so many other teams this season, came up short in Philadelphia, losing 27-13. There is no shame in losing to a potential Super Bowl winning team, and at 10-4 are still right in the thick of the playoffs. But they struggled to get anything going on offense last week. The ground game, in particular, went nowhere, with Najee Harris posting 6 carries for just 14 yards. Russell Wilson was efficient if not exciting, but you feel this team will need to go up another level on offense to make some noise in the playoffs.
The Ravens comfortably beat the hapless Giants, 35-14 in New York on Sunday and Lamar Jackson was once again the star of the show. The Ravens QB is putting together another MVP calibre season, and threw for 290 yards and five TDs last week as he tore apart the Giants defense. Rashod Bateman was Lamar’s top target on the day, with 80 yards and two TDs. This team is set up to win in multiple ways, and will take some stopping if Lamar carries on playing like this.
This will be another rugged, touch AFC North encounter which I think the Ravens will win.

L.A Rams @
New York Jets
The Rams secured an ugly, but ultimately huge win in San Francisco on Thursday Night Football last week. In the driving rain, no touchdowns were scored in the contest, but L.A held the 49ers to just two field goals, while they scored four themselves to earn a massive victory that has big playoff implications. Kyren Williams was excellent on the ground, rushing for 108 yards while Puka Nacua was his usual reliable self through the air with 97 yards. The Rams now control the NFC West and you wouldn’t want to face this team in the playoffs.
It was a rare good day last Sunday for the Jets in what has been a terrible season. In their win over the Jaguars, Aaron Rodgers threw for 289 yards and three TDs while the linkup with his old friend Devante Adams was evident for the first time in a Jets uniform, with the receiver recording 198 yards two TDs. It will be interesting to see if both or either return to Gotham next season.
I think the Rams will continue their momentum with a win in New York.

Minnesota Vikings @
Seattle Seahawks
The Vikings moved to 12-12 alongside the Eagles and the Lions in the NFC with a routine win over the Lions on Monday Night Football. Sam Darnold wasn’t explosive but did enough with 231 yards, one TD and one interception. Aaron Jones had another good outing with 86 yards on the ground while Justin Jefferson had his usual touchdown as well. Head coach Kevin O’Connell deserved a ton of credit for what he has done with this team.
It was a bad, bad weekend for Seattle. Following the Rams victory, they were soundly beaten at home by the Packers to lose control of the NFC West and now face an uphill battle to make the playoffs. Starting QB Geno Smith exited the game with a knee injury and Sam Howell did not look good coming in for him. The Seahawks are a tough team to work out, but they have not looked good in prime time games this year. Sunday against the Vikings is must win for their playoff hopes.
I think the Vikings will pretty much end Seattle’s season on Sunday.

Philadelphia Eagles @
Washington Commanders
The Eagles are surging. They won their 10th straight game on Sunday, over-powering the Steelers and Philly now has a real shot at securing the 1 seed in the NFC and a bye week in the playoffs. The talk all week leading up to the game was the strained relationship between Jalen Hurts and A.J Brown, but they looked in perfect harmony on Sunday Brown posted 110 yards and a touchdown. When you also factor in Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith, this team is loaded on offense and will take some stopping.
The Commanders won a nervy game against the Saints last week, the 20-19 victory meaning they still hold the final wildcard ticket to the postseason. Jayden Daniels was excellent once again, with 226 yards and two TDs, with Terry McLaurin also posting two TDs on the day. It has been an impressive first year for Daniels and head coach Dan Quinn in Washington, and they won’t want to slip at of playoff contention at this late stage.
I think Eagles will notch up win number 11 in a row on Sunday.
