The 49ers melted in the snow in Buffalo, the Eagles continued to roll knocking off AFC the powerhouse Baltimore Ravens while the Steelers won a classic against the Bengals.
Thanksgiving week in the NFL provided plenty of thrills and spills, let’s look towards week 14.
Sunday, 8 December
New York Jets @
Miami Dolphins
The Jets lost a mess of a game at home to the Seahawks last week. After jumping out to a 14-0 lead and then up 21-7, a 92 yard touchdown return from Seattle lineman Leonard Williams changed the momentum, and Gang Green never really recovered. The Jets didn’t score a single point in the second half and even had a chance to win it late but Aaron Rodgers overthrew the pass and that was that. They also had eight penalties in the fourth quarter, you don’t win games like that. Another season of failures in Gotham.
The Dolphins went into their game at the Packers with some momentum and there was talk they could be one of those teams who come with a late run entering the playoffs. That talk was quickly dismissed as the Dolphins were soundly beaten at Lambeau, adding fuel the theory that Tua and Miami can’t play in cold weather. At 5-7, it is a long way back for these Dolphins now.
It is quite hard to judge this one, Miami are slight favorites and I think the they will outlast the Jets.

New Orleans Saints @
New York Giants
The Saints went down at home to the Rams last week and more bad news for the team followed after the game after it was revealed that do it all TE Taysom Hill would miss the rest of the season through injury. In their 21-14 defeat to L.A, the Saints just couldn’t convert good opportunities into touchdowns, with Derek Carr only throwing one on the day. This was despite running back Alvin Kamara running for 122 yards from 23 carries. There has definitely been an uplift in performance levels since the head coaching change.
The Drew Lock experience was seen for the first time on Thanksgiving Day for the Giants and it is fair to say the results were mixed. Lock threw for 178 yards and an interception, but also ran for 57 yards and a TD in their 27-20 defeat to the Cowboys. With Daniel Jones gone and Tommy DeVito injured, Lock was making his season debut but I would surprised if any of these QBs were on the roster next season.
I think the Saints will beat a poor New York Giants team.

Jacksonville Jaguars @
Tennessee Titans
The biggest talking point from the Jaguars 23-20 defeat to the Texans last Sunday was the horrible tackle on QB Trevor Lawrence that saw him leave the game with a concussion. It led to a mass brawl as the Jaguars players were furious with the collision. Even though they lost the game, we did see some spirit from Jacksonville which has been lacking all season. In relief of Lawrence, Mac Jones played well, throwing for 235 yards and two TDs while unknown receiver Parker Washington made a name for himself with 103 receiving yards and a TD. We wait ti see if Lawrence can play in this one.
The Titans were hammered, 42-19, at the Commanders last week. The defense just couldn’t get off the field, with Washington QB Jayden Daniels and running back Brian Robinson Jr. having a field day. On the positive side, QB Will Levis continues to make small strides each week, and he had another good day, throwing for 212 yards and two TDs. Levis has likely earned another shot to be QB1 next season, now they need to build around him.
I think Tennessee will get the win against a reeling Jaguars team.

L.A Chargers @
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chargers have their defense to thank for a gritty 17-13 win on the road at Atlanta last week. After an early Bijan Robinson TD, they restricted Kirk Cousins and the Falcons to just field goals, swarming all over the veteran quarterback all afternoon. Yes, they will want to be better on offense, with Justin Herbert throwing for only 147 yards with Ladd McConkey having another good day with 177 receiving yards. They will head to Kansas City knowing they are a tough team to beat.
It feels strange to say that the Chiefs just aren’t playing well, as they have the best record in the whole NFL at 11-1 and, of course, have been down this road many times before. The truth is, though, that everything looks like a struggle for Mahomes and these Chiefs at the moment. It was the same again in the 19-17 win over the Raiders last week, as too many drives stalled in the red zone. Mahomes did throw for 306 yards and showed his relationship with WR DeAndre Hopkins is growing, but there are teams who look far stronger at the moment.
I am going to be bold here and tip the Chargers to pull of a shock on the road.

Week 14 Parlay Picks
I got a winner last week, barely as most of the games were close, but a win is a win! Clearly looking at the predictions this week, the Chargers winning at the Chiefs is a bold call. However, I feel the Bolts are playing well enough on defense to restrict Mahomes and Co and Herbert has enough talent around him to cause the Chiefs D issues.
