Devante Adams didn’t have the debut he would have wanted in a Jets uniform, the Giants got embarrassed at home to their hated rivals and it was a happy return to New Orleans for Sean Payton.

Week seven also saw one unbeaten record ended as the Vikings lost intense, exciting game against the Lions. It leaves the Chiefs as the only unbeaten team heading into week eight.

Green Bay Packers @   Jacksonville Jaguars

Green Bay will head to Florida this weekend feeling pretty good about themselves after a hard fought win over the Texans. In the 24-22 victory, Jordan Love had an up and down day, throwing for 220 yards with 3 TDs and two interceptions. Their defense did well to restrict the Texans to field goals on a couple of drives to keep the score close, and managed to win it at the end with a Brandon McManus walk off field goal. It keeps the Packers well in the race in the ultra-competitive NFC North.

The Jaguars completed their two-week stay in London with a much-needed victory over the Patriots at Wembley Stadium. Trevor Lawrence was efficient, with 193 yards and a TD but it was running back Tank Bigsby that carried the offense. The rookie running RB ran for 118 yards and two TDs in an excellent display, while fellow rookie receiver Brian Thomas Jr was the best Jags receiver on the day, with 89 yards and a TD.

The Jags looked much better on Sunday after a few terrible games, but I think Green Bay will be too strong for them.

It has been a nightmare season for the Cleveland Browns so far. Head coach Kevin Stefanski has had to field weekly questions regarding the play of his QB, the team looks lost, and now that same QB, Deshaun Watson, looks like he will miss significant time due to injury. To compound matters, the Browns lost to division rivals Cincinnati last week, dropping their record to 1-6 and pretty much ending the season. It is hard to know where they go from here, but they surely didn’t want to be welcoming Baltimore into town in week eight.

Baltimore are the best team in the NFL right now. Lamar Jackson is playing at an MVP level, and his teammate Derrick Henry is just behind him. Lamar had a fantastic night in Tampa Bay, throwing for 281 yards and five TDs, Henry rushed 169 yards while receiver Rashod Bateman also enjoyed a super night, with 121 receiving yards and a TD. After a slow start to the season, the Ravens are now baring their teeth and showing why they are one of the Super Bowl favorites.

I take Baltimore in this one comfortably, and would also take the over on this game.

Indiana Colts logo Indianapolis Colts @   Houston Texans

The Colts squeezed out a win against the underhanded Dolphins last week, in a game low on quality. QB Anthony Richardson returned to the lineup but didn’t throw for any touchdowns as the Colts only scored 1 TD all afternoon which came on a running play. Richardson was the most productive runner with 56 yards but the Colts can thank their defense for restricting the Dolphins to 10 points for getting the win. The offense still needs a lot of work.

The Texans lost a close one in Green Bay that could have gone either way and have a good opportunity to bounce back here. C.J. Stroud was unusually quiet on the day so it was left to running back Joe Mixon to carry the load and he did so to the tune of 115 yards and two TDs. Stroud will not have many days like that so the fact the Texans can run the ball effectively augurs well for their prospects this season.

I think the Texans will bounce back with a win here.

Tennessee Titans logo Tennessee Titans @  Detroit Lions logo Detroit Lions

The Titans are a mess right now. Head coach Brian Callahan decided to make a QB change before the game, taking out Will Levis and giving Mason Rudolph the start. It didn’t really change much, Rudolph throwing for 215 yards with one TD and one interception. At 1-5, the Titans are now a team that will surely be fielding trade calls for some of their better players, as they are clearly in need of a rebuild. They need to know who will be their QB of the future, whether he will be drafted next year or is currently on the roster, for starters.

What a win for the Lions in week seven. Heading into Minnesota, who were top of their division and unbeaten, was a daunting prospect, especially without their best defensive player in Aiden Hutchinson. But these Lions are built different. Despite a slow start, their offense starting to roll in the second quarter, and they put up 31 points, winning it with a Jake Bates 44 yard field goal. Jared Goff threw for 280 yards and two TDs, Jahmyr Gibbs had 116 yards and two TDs on the ground while Amon-Ra-St. Brown posted 112 yards and a TD through the air. The Lions proved why they are legitimate Super Bowl contenders with this showing.

The Titans could be the biggest underdog of the day, and there will be no upset here.

New Orleans Saints logo New Orleans Saints @  Los-Angeles-Chargers Los Angeles Chargers

In what was supposed to be a celebration in New Orleans for Thursday Night Football last week as the Saints welcomed former QB Drew Brees into their hall of fame, it turned into a really disappointing evening for the team. Their current starting quarterback, rookie Spencer Rattler, struggled throughout, being sacked several times and losing fumbles. The defense, so long a strong point of this team, also can’t stop anything. Lots of fans left after seeing Brees honored at half-time, and coach Dennis Allen is certainly on the hot seat.

The Chargers offense was anaemic in a 17-15 defeat to the Cardinals on Monday Night. Time and time again Los Angeles had to settle for field goals when they needed a touchdown. Justin Herbert threw for 349 yards but they just couldn’t get it together in the redzone. They had no running game all evening and they will need to show far more if they are to make a run this season. New Orleans are the ideal team to be playing right now if you want to bounce back.

I think the Chargers will comfortably see of a Saints team really struggling at the moment.

I think the Ravens, Lions and Chargers will all be far too strong for their opposition this week. They are all in form, while the teams they are playing will are already staring at a losing season with coaches on the hot seat and uncertainty going forward. The Packers and Texans have trickier games, but I still think will be too strong. To spice the parlay up this week I have added the Lions over 45.5 total game points. They are scoring at will and that looks a real possibility against a hapless Titans team.
