The Ravens were one of the biggest favorites of any game of the season in week 8 against the Browns, so naturally they lost in what ended up a trap game (and cost me my parlay last week).
Week 8 also saw the Lions out up a fiftyburger and the Vikings go from unbeaten to losing two straight as they came unstuck in L.A against the Rams on Thursday Night Football.

Washington Commanders @
New York Giants
The Commanders won in the most dramatic way possible against the Bears last week. Down three points with seconds left on the clock, it was left to QB Jayden Daniels to try a Hail Mary attempt. Amazingly, Bears DB Tyrique Stevenson, who was taunting the home fans before the play as Chicago closed in on victory, tipped the ball into the hands of Noah Brown to hand Washington the win. Que bedlam in the stadium and on the touchline as head coach Dan Quinn ran onto the field alongside what felt like the whole roster. What a finale, and a big win which keeps the Commanders top of the NFC East.
I think Washington will bounce into New York and come out with another win.

Miami Dolphins @
Buffalo Bills
Tua Tagovailoa finally returned for Miami last week and despite an improvement on offense, the Dolphins still came up short, losing 28-27 to the Cardinals. Tua had a solid outing, throwing for 234 yards and a TD and Tyreek Hill had his best day for a while with 72 receiving yards but it still wasn’t enough. At 2-5, this is a franchise that is now going to face big questions as much was expected of them heading into this year.
No such questions for their division rivals, the Buffalo Bills. They went across the country to Seattle and dominated the Seahawks, winning 31-10 and putting out a message to the rest of the NFL that they mean business. One of the biggest reasons for hope in Buffalo this year is that they have found a run game to help Josh Allen. On Sunday, James Cook ran for 111 yards and two TDs while Khalil Shakir had 107 yards through the air. They dominated in all three phases and it looks like a matter of time before they are confirmed as AFC East winners, such is the state of the rest of the division.
I expect Buffalo to comfortably see of the Dolphins at home.

Las Vegas Raiders @
Cincinnati Bengals
The Raiders were at least competitive last week against the Chiefs, going down 27-20. QB Gardner Minshew II had a good day, with 209 yards and two TDs, but there is just not enough talent in the skill positions, especially on offense, for the Raiders to beat the better teams. They have shown with their trade of Devante Adams to the Jets than eyes are already on next season in Las Vegas. At 2-6, they are facing another difficult season with any issues to overcome in the offseason.
Another team that may very well be looking towards next season already is the Bengals. We have got used to them starting slowly but at 3-5 they need to go on some run between now and the end of the season to be contenders. They got blown out in their own stadium against the Eagles last week, with Joe Burrow struggling all afternoon. Their best receiver on the day was tight end Mike Gesicki, and you know it’s probably not the best day when that happens.
Although they haven’t been great so far this season, the Bengals should have too much talent for the Raiders.

Jacksonville Jaguars @
Philadelphia Eagles
The Jaguars were involved in one of the games of the weekend last week, coming up just short in an up and down, 30-27 defeat to the Packers. It was a heartbreaker for Jacksonville to lose, a walk off field goal seeing Green Bay escape Florida with a win and leaving the home team with a 2-6 record. The team at least showed some fight, with promising rookies Brian Thomas Jr and Tank Bigsby showing the future could be bright for the Jags. But they will be big underdogs this week on the road and need miracles now to make the postseason.
At 5-2, the Eagles have a very good record and are firmly in the mix with the Commanders to win the NFC East. But, you wouldn’t think it, with head coach Nick Sirianni seemingly at loggerheads with the fans on a regular basis. Despite all the noise, this is a team with serious talent and they proved that on Sunday, taking down the Bengals on the road. Saquon Barkley ran for 108 yards and DeVonta Smith had 85 yards and a TD. If this team can get out of it’s own way, they will be a force.
The Eagles should roll over the Jags at home.

Los Angeles Rams @
Seattle Seahawks
The Rams welcomed back star receivers Puka Nacua and Copper Kupp for Thursday Night Football against the Vikings, and both delivered in their 30-20 win. Nacua, playing in his first game since suffering a knee injury in the first game of the season, looked as good as ever, with 106 receiving yards, finding open spaces all over the field. Matthew Stafford clearly enjoyed having his weapons back, as well, has he threw for 279 yards and four TDs. In Kyren Williams, the Rams also boast an excellent running back and when fully healthy, this team will take some stopping, the NFC West is there to be won.
The Seahawks will host their division rivals off the back of a terrible 31-10 loss to the Bills. Yes, they were missing star receiver DK Metcalf, but that was no excuse for a game that was full of mistakes, penalties and even included teammates throwing fists at each other on the field after a play. This is a steep learning curve for first year coach Mike MacDonald, we are never sure which Seattle team will turn up from one week to the next.
I think the Rams will have too much for a Seattle team still figuring out what it wants to be.

Week 9 Parlay Picks
I was close to winning last week, I just didn’t see the Browns beating the red hot Ravens. Like always, I am quietly confident in these picks for week 9. The Rams heading to Seattle looks fairly even but with the return of Kupp and Nacua, and Seattle giving up lots of points, I think they will win.
