The Vikings are still undefeated after edging out the Jets in London, the Ravens won a barnstormer in Cincinnati and the Cowboys won on the last play of the game in Pittsburgh.
Week five delivered, with some amazing plays (Lamar Jackson), last second drama and big upsets. I went four for five on my predictions last week, with the 49ers the only side letting me down. Can I get the full hit this week?
Sunday, October 13
Cleveland Browns @
Philadelphia Eagles
It it fair to say it has been a shocking start to the season for the Browns. Their latest loss, a 34-13 defeat in Washington, led to questions put to head coach Kevin Stefanski if Deshuan Watson will continue to be their starting QB going forward. Stefanski confirmed he would be, but the Watson experiment has just never got going, which is kind of an issue when you are paying him $230,000,000 guaranteed money. It is hard to see where they go as an organization from here, on the field it is to Philadelphia on Sunday.
The Eagles are coming off a bye week and will have used the break to take stock after a hammering in Tampa Bay in week four. Jalen Hurts hasn’t looked right all season so far, while for all the supposed weapons they have on defense, that unit hasn’t got going either. There is a lot of talk of head coach Nick Sirianni being under pressure, unable to get the most from a talented roster. But they surely have too much for a ragged Browns team.

Houston Texans @
New England Patriots
In a game that was billed as Stefon Diggs vs Josh Allen, it was Diggs’ Texans that got the dub against the Buffalo last week, a 23-20 victory that saw Houston move to 4-1 on the season. A walk-off Ka’imi Fairbairn 59 yard field goal saw the Texans secure a massive win against a contender. Diggs had 82 yards on the day but this was very much a team effort. C.J. Stroud was efficient, throwing for 331 yards with 1 TD and 1 interception while the Texans D came up big. This team is well-rounded and they already look like AFC South winners in waiting.
The Patriots suffered a bad loss at home to the under-manned Dolphins last week, a low scoring 15-10 defeat confirming this team is very much in rebuilding mode. Rhamondre Stevenson carried most of the threat on offense again, running for 89 yards and a touchdown. There just aren’t many quality skill position players on their roster and eyes in New England are already on the draft and next season it seems. The Texans will have too much in this one.

Washington Commanders @
Baltimore Ravens
Jayden Daniels and the Commanders just continue to wow and impress all of us. Daniels has taken to the NFL like a duck to water, throwing the ball all over the field and also showing how dangerous he is a runner. He threw for 238 yards and ran for 82 yards against the Browns last week and he has also instantly found a connection with receiver Terry McLaurin, who had 112 yards receiving. They are 4-1 and are currently in charge of the NFC East.
Daniels comes up against a fellow dual threat QB this week, in fact, the best dual threat QB in the business. Lamar was incredible against the Bengals last week, throwing for 348 yards and a 4 TDs in an up and down game in Cincinnati. Derrick Henry continued his recent impressive form with 92 yards and a TD but it was kicker Justin Tucker who won it with a field goal in overtime. After an 0-2 start, the Ravens have won three straight and look very dangerous. This could be a fantastic, high scoring game and I am going for the Ravens to edge it. I would also be taking the over on this game.

Arizona Cardinals @
Green Bay Packers
What a plucky, gritty win for Arizona in San Francisco last week. The Cardinals went to the joint Super Bowl favorites, and division rivals and despite trailing 23-13 heading into the fourth quarter, showed there was no quite in this team and they are right in the hunt in the NFC West. Kyler Murray wasn’t spectacular but did enough, while James Conner had a solid day, rushing for 86 yards. They have proven they can live with the best, now they need to show some consistency.
Jordon Love looked a lot healthier as the Packers went into L.A and took down the Rams, 24-19. The Green Bay QB threw for 224 yards and 2 TDs with an interception, with Tucker Kraft his favorite target on the day, hauling in 2 TDs. The running game looked a lot better than the week before, as well, with Josh Jacobs rushing for 73 yards and a score. You feel there is more to come from this team and I think they will get another victory at home this week.

Atlanta Falcons @
Carolina Panthers
Kirk Cousins enjoyed his best night in a Falcons uniform last week, throwing for 509 yards, a franchise record, and 4 TDs. This was the Cousins the Falcons invested all of that money in, as he got everybody involved. Drake London had a super evening, with 154 receiving yards and a TD and it looked like an offense that was really on song right from the get go. There are some things they would like to clean up on the defensive side of the ball, as the Bucs did score 30 points, but winning in overtime like the Falcons did will give them huge momentum.
The Panthers had no answer for Caleb Williams and the Bears last week. The defense couldn’t get off the field while the offense sputtered all afternoon. Chuba Hubbard did have a good day on the ground, running for 97 yards and a score, but this once again highlighted the lack of star quality the team has despite all the investments. It looks like a battle for the No.1 draft pick between the Patriots and the Panthers, not what their fans want to hear but that’s the reality. Falcons comfortable here.

Week 6 Parlay Picks
I am really confident that the Eagles, Texans and Falcons will all have far too much for their opponents this week, with a combination of momentum and just coming up against poor opposition. I am less confident on the Ravens and Packers picks, as, although I and many others think they are a superior team to who they are both playing this week, the Commanders and Cardinals are no pushovers. As we have seen, there are upsets galore every week in the NFL, maybe there is no such thing as an underdog in this sport. As ever, good luck and happy betting.
