There are no more setbacks, no more delays, and it is peak time for bettors to get in on the action. Iron Mike will reenter the ring for the first time in nearly 20 years, and the former heavyweight champion will take on the YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul on November 15 at the AT&T Stadium in Texas.
The hype around this match is phenomenal, even if the event has failed to sell tickets (was $50 for the cheapest, now they are as low as $30), and it is portrayed as somewhat of a circus in the media.
It is really difficult to predict what will happen here, and the team at BettingTools is still quite divided over how this fight will pan out. To get a better idea, we will analyze the boxing rules of this bout, deep dive into Jake Paul’s boxing record, and check out what the oddsmakers are predicting.

Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson Boxing Rules
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations confirmed that the fight will have eight 2-minute rounds. Generally, the Marquess of Queensberry Rules have 3 minute rounds, and up to 12 rounds in a major fight. So this fight will have shorter rounds, and that’s not the only big change in the rules. It will also feature 14-ounce gloves instead of 10-ounce gloves – which are generally used in Heavyweight boxing bouts. The heavier gloves mean more padding, so there is less chance of injury and the fighters’ hands will be better protected to absorb the impact of each punch.

The shortened rounds and heavier gloves give better protection for the fighters, but I think this will also encourage them to fight more aggressively. The fight was set to take place on July 20 but was postponed due to Tyson suffering an ulcer flare-up. There is no title on the line in the headline fight, but it will no doubt impact Tyson’s boxing legacy.
Who is Jake Paul and Can He Win
I can’t help but feel this is a lose-lose for Jake Paul’s camp. The provocative former YouTuber has not been shy to avoid criticism and whichever way this fight goes, I don’t see him winning public acclaim in any way. Should Jake Paul win, the media will throw the book at him for fighting a 58 year old boxer and tarnishing Iron Mike’s reputation. A loss against Tyson will destroy Jake Paul’s aspirations for people to take him seriously as a professional boxer. After all, Tyson is over double his age and the big underdog here.
Jake Paul is 27 years old and has fought in 11 matches. He has won 10 and lost 1, his only loss coming to 25-year-old British boxer Tommy Fury (younger brother of Tyson Fury), who won by split decision. Jake Paul beat some high profile former UFC fighters, including Nate Diaz and former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson da Silva.
Jake Paul Fighting History
But the majority of Paul’s fights have come against former fighters, who are at least 15 years older than Jake Paul. 5 of his victories came against athletes who had not fought in boxing bouts before. Take his most recent win against Bare Knuckle Fighter Mike Perry. Mike had only fought in 1 boxing bout before and lost. While Jake Paul did well to down Mike Perry in three separate rounds before winning via TKO in round 6, it was quite obvious from the get-go that Mike Perry hadn’t prepared properly for this fight.
The fight took place on July 20 (filling in for the original JP vs Tyson date), and Mike Perry refused to keep his hands up for the duration of the fight. He absorbed shot after shot and even put JP on the back foot in round 3. But by round 4 Jake Paul’s strikes strikes had started to pile up, and the Problem Child took advantage of his opponent’s limited boxing experience to break him down.

It’s safe to say, this fight will be quite the opposite. Tyson is just as famous for his impenetrable defense as he is for his legendary hooks. Granted, he was knocking out boxers for fun before Jake Paul was born. But I have never seen Iron Mike act cocky like that in any of his previous fights.
The words that spring to mind with Tyson are ferocious, powerful, light-footed, and extremely calculating. He won’t be dancing around and mocking Paul, Mike Tyson should be the more disciplined of the two.

Paul vs Tyson Fight Predictions
My heart says Tyson, but my head says Jake Paul. The Problem Child is the oddsmakers’ favorite at the time of writing, and it is difficult to argue against that assessment. I have looked for loopholes or indications that the YouTuber may lose to Tyson, given that he has only faced ageing stars or fighters with very limited boxing experience. He wasn’t born and bred for boxing like Tyson was, but we cannot take away the fact that Jake Paul does get the job done.

Mike Tyson Moneyline @ +240
His recent fight against Mike Perry, who was a little arrogant in my opinion, has shown us that Jake Paul knows how to play the long game and has patience. As for Tyson, I don’t think any of us know what to expect.
He may defend a lot and reserve his strength to catch Paul, or his instincts of old may take hold of the former champ, unleashing the iron fist on Paul. Hell, I wouldn’t mind if he bites off Paul’s ear to silence the Problem Child, but that would spoil all bets.

Who Will Win
I will say Jake Paul and the odds are not bad on the Problem Child at all. But given the sheer number of props and betting markets on this fight, I will personally hedge parlay bets to get the best value.
Will the Fight Go the Distance
The oddsmakers suggest that this fight will end early, which seems a bit baffling to me. Yes, JP has a good KO record, but it seems quite unlikely that he can take down Iron Mike. I don’t see Tyson knocking out JP either, as Jake Paul has good stamina and has never lost a fight by knockout.

Method of Victory
The Winning Method odds point towards Jake Paul winning via KO/TKO or DQ.
| Method of Victory | Jake Paul | Mike Tyson |
|---|---|---|
| KO/TKO/DQ | +100 | +320 |
| Decision/Tech. Decision | +300 | +1500 |
| Draw | +1100 | |
Mike Tyson’s last fight, an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr in 2020, also had 8 2-minute rounds. That fight went the distance, and while it ended in a draw, Tyson’s efforts stood out. He was in great condition, with good footwork and strong body punches. Roy Jones did a lot of clinching to reduce Tyson’s shots, and Mike Tyson couldn’t really get inside to sneak in those famous punches.

Roy Jones Jr looked a bit gassed towards the end, but Tyson did not look out of breath, piling on the body strikes until the end. I can see him going the distance here, but I don’t know which fighter that would suit more.
Other Fights on the Card
The headline fight is going to be a thriller, but there are ample betting opportunities on the other billed fights here to build a proper parlay.
Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano
Katie Taylor has 23 wins to her name and lost her first fight in 2023 May against Chantelle Cameron in Dublin. A rematch was billed for November of 2023, where Taylor reclaimed her WBA, WVC, IBF, WBO, and IBO titles. 17 of her wins have come via decision, and the last time she knocked out an opponent was back in 2019.
She faced Amanda Serrano in 2022 and won the bout by split decision. The Irish boxer is the undisputed champ, but her previous fight against Serrano was quite a close affair.
Her Puerto Rican foe is 2 years younger than Katie and has fought in 50 professional matches. Serrano has won 47, lost twice, and had 1 draw. Of her victories, Serrano has won 31 via knockout, and most recently beat Stevie Morgan within 2.5 rounds in Florida. Before that, Serrano had 4 unanimous decision wins in a row, and before that, she had the loss to Taylor.
Serrano’s last fights are pointing toward a winner by judge’s decision, and I don’t really see either of these fighters getting knocked out. If I have to predict a winner, I will chalk this one. But I am more confident betting on the fight to go the distance.

Mario Barros vs Abel Ramos
This 12-round fight features the 29-year-old Mario Barros, who is the WBC Welterweight champion and has defended his title once already this year. He beat Fabian Maidana at the T-Mobile Arena in Nevada, in a unanimous decision. He has 29 wins to his name and 2 losses, winning 18 fights by knockout and 11 by decision. I like his chances here against Abel Ramos, who is 4 years his senior.
Ramos has 28 victories, 6 losses and 2 draws, and last fought in April this year, beating Juan Ramon Guzman in a fifth round KO. A hard hitting US boxer, Ramos has a knack for delivering knockout blows, but when fights go the distance, he tends to lose. I like his brash style, but Barros is the more tactical fighter, and I don’t think Ramos can take him down quickly. I’m going to go with the oddsmakers on this one, and back the heavy favorite, Barros to win.

BettingTools Jake Paul vs Iron Mike Betting Picks
I’m going to go bold on Jake Paul and pick him to beat Tyson on points. This is the outcome that most of the team here predicts, with both Jake Paul and Tyson going to the final round, and then Jake Paul taking the victory by decision. He is younger, has better stamina, and can pile on the pressure in the latter rounds. Though Tyson will reserve his energy and keep going to the death, Jake Paul is more likely to win valuable points later on.
I’m going to split my bankroll, and try a hedging combo strategy that can squeeze out the best returns on either outcome. Therefore, if the fight goes to plan for Paul, and he can win via decision, I can get a good payout. In the event of Tyson satisfying millions of fans and knocking Paul cold, I will also get a neat little profit.
I’m going to hedge bets on this fight to get the best value. I would recommend using a good hedging calculator to get the best coverage and returns on your wagers.
