Saquon Barkley for MVP! That is the talk of the town after week 12 after the Philadelphia Eagles running back ran all over the Rams in a big win for Philly.
There was also a dramatic finish in the Commanders Cowboys game in another weekend of NFL fun. We now look ahead to Thanksgiving week and a packed NFL schedule.
Thursday, 28 November (Thanksgiving Day)
New York Giants @
Dallas Cowboys
Everything about the Giants at the moment is just a bit grim, they are likely to be an underdog in every remaining game this season. The fact their former player, Saquon Barkley, is lighting up the league, just rubs salt into the wounds. It was another forgettable day on Sunday, as boos were heard throughout their 30-7 defeat at home to the Bucs. QB Tommy DeVito couldn’t ignite anything and there is just not enough juice on either side of the ball.
It’s Thanksgiving, so we had to include the Dallas Cowboys in these predictions. Despite all the turbulence the team are going through, they managed to pick up an impressive win on the road against the Commanders. Cooper Rush had a good game, throwing for 247 yards and two TDs while running back Rico Dowdle picked up 86 yards on the ground. There was also a 99 yard TD return by KaVontae Turpin, which was electric.
This has the potential to be a Thanksgiving let-down between two teams not really going anywhere, but I think the Cowboys will outlast the Giants.

Indianapolis Colts @
New England Patriots
Despite a 5-7 record, not all is lost for the Colts. Yes, they will need to go on a winning run down the stretch, but the AFC South is still up for grabs as the Texans are struggling despite leading the division. Last week, the Colts went down, 24-6 to the Lions. Losing to this Detroit team is no shame, but Indy needs to show more on offense. Anthony Richardson didn’t throw a TD pass all day and still relies on his legs too much while Jonathan Taylor wasn’t a factor at all. That needs to change if the Colts are to reach the playoffs.
The Patriots lost to a rejuvenated Dolphins team last week as they continue to get QB Drake Maye accustomed to NFL life. He once again showed flashes in Miami, with 222 yards and a TD on the day. Considering he doesn’t have the weapons around him, he is showing great signs of promise.
Colts need this one, badly, and I think it will show.

Los Angeles Rams @
New Orleans Saints
The Rams were well in the game against the Eagles last week, until Barkley took it away from them. They allowed the star running back to accumulate 255 yards on the night and too many explosive plays. They still had a decent night on offense, with Matthew Stafford throwing for 243 yards and two TDs while Kyren Williams ran for 72 yards and a TD but it wasn’t enough. They are still in the thick of the NFC West race and will remain dangerous with the weapons they have.
The Saints were on their bye last week but will come into this game buoyant after winning two straight games. Since replacing head coach Dennis Allen with interim with Darren Rizzi there has been a notable upturn in performance levels. At 4-7, it’s likely too late to make a playoff run, but the feel good factor is returning.
I think the Rams will just have enough but this could be a high scoring, close game.

San Francisco 49ers @
Buffalo Bills
The 49ers went into this season as joint Super Bowl favorites, but are now facing an uphill battle just to make the playoffs. After a 38-10 hammering in Green Bay, San Fran are bottom of the NFC West and are dealing with a lot of injuries. QB Brock Purdy and DE Nick Bosa missed the Packers game, while star offensive lineman Trent Williams left the game with an injury. All three are vital for this team and if they are missing for any length of time, you struggle to see this Niners team overcome and reach the postseason.
There is no such trouble for Buffalo. They were on a bye last week but in week 11 they were the first team to defeat Kansas City this season, generating even more belief in Western New York that this could be their year. QB Josh Allen is playing at an MVP level, while running back James Cook has been running all over defenses this year, meaning Allen has to play less ‘hero-ball’. Add to that a smothering defense and the Bills will surely be challenging for the AFC No1 seed.
I expect the Bills steam train to carry on rolling here.

Week 13 Parlay Picks
I was close to winning last week, with the Commanders falling at home the Cowboys proving costly. There are some close calls this week, I think the Saints-Rams game could be closer than we think, while if San Frnacisco’s big players return they can beat anybody.
